So you’ve gotten an inquiry, clarity or strategy call scheduled on your website. But you’re not sure how to get your client to book you on the spot. Read on if you want to break out and book yourself solid like I did.

  1. Your reviews count.

If they’re Google reviews, even better. We’re living in an Amazon world. We only trust what has social proof. So if you haven’t set up your local Google listing, go do that right now. It’ll also help you get your coaching business found on Google due to the added Search Engine Optimization boost.

2. Your response time matters.

Chances are she’s super busy. If you don’t respond immediately, chances are good that one of your competitors already has. You can set up an automatic response, asking her to take the next step which should be to schedule a phone call or in-person consultation with one or two dates and times you’re available. People like to be given choices, but not too many. Your job is to lead your prospective client to that next step while they’re focusing on you.


3. What you promise matters.

If you overpromise and underdeliver your client is not going to be impressed. She only stands to feel disappointed. It’s about setting expectations without overwhelming her with all the details.  Make it easy for her. Always under-promise and overdeliver.


4. Your level of professionalism matters.

Be prepared, organized and ready to go with everything you need on your phone calls, consultations and trials. Have your contract filled out with her information even if you’re not sure she’s going to sign on with you. If you don’t show her that you’re professional during these first steps, what do you think she’s going to think of how you’ll be when working with you?

Save your busy client time in any way you can. I’m not saying to rush the experience itself, though. Make sure that in the first five minutes you build a connection, whether it’s something you have in common or even the beautiful weather you’ve had recently.

5. Your specialty matters.

Do you know yours? Are you wondering what makes me and my coaching service unique? What makes your coaching business different? Are you demonstrating that with every interaction in person and online? Do you REALLY listen to what your client wants and repeat it back to her so you can clarify her needs? Are you acting professional and timely? It’s often the little things that make the difference between her booking you for as her coach on the spot.


6. Your limited availability matters.

Are you in demand? Does she know this? Have you communicated why your client should book you right now?

If there isn’t any sense of urgency on your end, there won’t be any on her end either. If you tell her to look things over and get back to you, she isn’t going to. She is spinning too many plates.

If you tell her that in order to save her spot, you need the contract signed and a deposit in hand, she’s going to sense that feeling of “shit, if I don’t make a decision now, I might lose her/him.”

Don’t worry, you’re not being pushy, you’re just communicating the facts. I mean think about it, if you’re at a restaurant and you’re dying for a piece of their delicious chocolate cake, but you’re hemming and hawing “is it worth the calories? Do I really need it?” and then the waiter tells you it’s their last piece...what are you gonna do? Of course, you’re going to jump on it, say you’ll take and then feel good about getting it before someone did!
